They have beaten the Yellow Army 16 times out of the 27 matches they have played against each other. The Rohit-led team has won two out of three finals against CSK so far.
The Mumbai Indians have beaten the Chennai Super Kings in all of their three meetings this season. MS Dhoni and co will hope to better their record in the most important match of the tournament.
However, it would be very interesting to see if the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings play a combined XI against another team. The likes of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma would play in the same team.
Harbhajan Singh and Rahul Chahar have played a vital role for their respective teams in this IPL, but they just missed the cut for the possible combined XI of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis has been in tremendous form in this season. He played a brilliant knock of 50 runs against Delhi Capitals to help his team reach their eight final in 10 seasons.
Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock hasn’t notched many big scores in this tournament, but he has consistently provided good starts for the Mumbai Indians. The South African has scored 500 runs in 15 matches.
The Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma hasn’t been in the best of form in this IPL, but his record in limited-overs matches will open up a place for him in any side in the world. The Mumbai batsman has scored 300 runs in 14 matches.
uresh Raina has been a bank for Chennai Super Kings in all the IPL seasons. The Chennai batsman is on his way to record another 400-plus run season. Raina has scored 375 runs in 16 matches.
MS Dhoni (captain and wicket-keeper)
MS Dhoni is certainly going to be the captain of the combined side of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni has starred with the bat by scoring 414 runs in 11 matches and led the Chennai Super Kings to yet another IPL final.
Hardik Pandya has been in excellent form in both departments – batting and bowling. He has provided the final flourish time and time again for Mumbai Indians with the bat and picked up crucial wickets in the tournament. Pandya has scored 386 runs and taken 14 wickets in 14 matches.
Ravindra Jadeja is a live wire on the field and can contribute with both, bat and ball. Jadeja has been an integral part of the CSK set-up this season with 15 wickets in 15 matches.
Imran Tahir has been MS Dhoni’s trump card this season. The skipper has called on Tahir to bowl whenever he needed a wicket and the leg-spinner delivered. Tahir has taken 24 wickets in 16 matches.
Deepak Chahar has provided the early breakthroughs for the Chennai Super Kings. The fast bowler has ensured that no team runs away with the match in the powerplay overs against CSK. Chahar has taken 19 wickets in 16 matches.
Jasprit Bumrah will walk into any side in the world as he is excellent with the new ball and in the death overs. The fast bowler has kept all the batsmen on their toes for the last one and a half years in all formats. Bumrah has taken 17 wickets in 15 matches this season.
Lasith Malinga has been a revelation for the Mumbai Indians after being a bowling mentor for the same team in the last season. The Sri Lankan and Bumrah have formed a potent attack in the death overs. Malinga has taken 15 wickets in 11 matches.
